Draven DeSalvo is a sophomore at Struthers High School. He plays golf and basketball. DeSalvo just finished his second season of high school basketball and first season of golf.
DeSalvo was inspired to play basketball when he found out that all of his friends were going to play. He started playing basketball in elementary school. The athlete continued to play and when he hit middle school he first tried out for the 7th grade basketball team.
The athlete is driven to keep going by the thought of succeeding.
“What keeps me motivated the most is winning,” says DeSalvo.
The student has to manage his time between basketball and school, and sometimes that can be challenging. He uses his free time wisely to do his school work either before or after games and practices. He makes sure that he always stays focused on school, even during the basketball season.
DeSalvo does not see himself playing basketball after he graduated high school because he does not plan on going to a college.
“I’m not going to college; I’m going into trades,” says the student.
With the new season coming up, DeSalvo is pumped. The last season was hard for the basketball team, so he wants to use this season to make up for it. He is excited to perform well as a team and prove themselves.
The athlete likes basketball because of the people he gets to play with.
“I enjoy basketball because it’s fun, and it’s something I can play every day with my friends,” says DeSalvo.
