Conan Gray released his fourth studio album Wishbone on August 15, 2025. He later came out with the deluxe edition, releasing on April 24, 2026.
Wishbone Deluxe features 5 additional songs to the original album, including the tracks, “Do I Dare,” “House That Always Rains,” “Door,” “Moths” and “The Best.” He wrote hundreds of songs before deciding on the original 12, then he went on the Wishbone Tour, and while he was on tour, he wrote the songs for the deluxe edition. They were all written backstage at concerts or during his time travelling with a fresh perspective on life.
Gray sticks to a similar genre with these tracks, yet they still stand out on the album. They have a similar atmosphere as the original tracks, but they bring new instruments and sounds to the album, making it more lively and interesting. He experiments with different sounds like acoustic guitar, layering vocals and more to add depth and intrigue to the overall sound.
Because these songs were written with a new perspective on events previously covered in the original songs, it gives more opportunity for listeners to relate, and it makes certain lyrics and events more vulnerable but also creates a deeper understanding looking back. This new perspective provides clarity as Gray was less overcome with negative emotions and more fulfilled while being on tour.
