Patrick Boila is a freshman varsity football player at Struthers High School.
In the 2025-2026 season, Boila played varsity as a freshman and ended up lettering in his first year. From starting at a young age, the athlete has grown a passion for the sport.
Boila developed a love for the sport through his older brother.
“Watching the game of football made me interested in it and watching my brother play,” said Boila.
Regardless of the outcome, he and his teammates pushed through controversy throughout the season. But no matter what, they push each other to their limits and hold them to the best of their abilities.
The Struthers football team drives one another with responsibility in hopes of growth in the sport.
“As teammates, we all push each other to get better, and we hold ourselves accountable,” said Boila.
During the first year, he already had to compete for a spot. In the end, he got it but had to achieve it through hard work in practice and on his own time, too. Through this, he developed a strong work ethic for the sport and real life as well.
Boila has learned lessons through football that carry on to everyday life.
“The greatest challenge I had to face was to fight for a starting spot and I got it. I won it using my work ethic,” said Boila.
Since childhood, he has gained friends, memories and more. From gaining interest from his brother to working his hardest for his Grandpa, he leaves his best on the field.
