Pixar Animation Studios presents yet another comedy film.
“Toy Story” is an hour and twenty one minute long film that dives into the experience of a cowboy toy, Woody (Tom Hanks), who is loved and appreciated by his owner Andy (Donald Reignoux), that was until on Andy’s birthday when he got a new toy, Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), a space ranger. This film is filled with the wild adventures of Woody and Buzz as the two toys fight for Andy’s attention causing them to get lost in the mix of things. This highlights the humorous reaction of the toys around them, setting the film in motion.
Something that can be learned from this film is the importance of teamwork. In the beginning of the movie, Woody hated Buzz. He didn’t like that Buzz was now Andy’s favorite toy, feeling replaced. They ended up getting lost at Pizza Planet since Woody and Buzz fell out of Andy’s window and decided to rush to the car. They had to rely on each other in the end. They stuck together and came back home closer than before, showing the other toys how much of a difference they had made.
Another thing that can be learned from this film is how bad jealousy can be. Woody tried his best to compete with Buzz. Trying to win back his leadership role from the other toys that Buzz had stolen. Woody didn’t like how the other toys and Andy saw Buzz as more interesting than him, or the fact that his toy didn’t have more features than he did. Woody’s jealousy got the best of him, causing them to go on a wild adventure trying to get back home. He then realized in the end that Andy loved both him and Buzz in the end of things. This highlights how jealousy can affect a person’s personality and make them out to be a villain in a way.
All in all, “Toy Story” is recommended for those who love a good comedy film. It is rated G as it is for all ages.
