“Cars 2” is an animated family comedy movie released in 2011. The movie is about Mater getting caught in a troubling mission where he was risking McQueen’s life and his own.
This movie had a budget of $200 million and is still to this day one of the most expensive movies of all time. “Cars 2” starts off with a British spy, Finn McMissile who infiltrates an oil rig owned by criminal lemon cars to rescue a friend. After seeing Turbo (his friend) dead he was exposed and had to get away by faking his death. While this was all happening, McQueen just won his 4th Piston Cup honoring his mentor. He is then invited to the Grand World Prix by a F1 car Francesco Bernoulli. He sets off with Mater and his friends to Tokyo, Japan, where his first race would start. At the event, Mater mistakes wasabi for ice cream and causes a scene. While cleaning his mess up, he interrupts a fight between an American spy who is tasked to give information to Finn. The spy thinks Mater is who he is supposed to put the tracker on, which takes Mater in for an experience he won’t forget.
One downside about the movie is that viewers felt that the movie was “ad driven” and wasn’t a movie that was supposed to be good but a movie to make profit. They could’ve kept the same storyline and plot and just made the movie feel unforced. Not only that, they could have done a better job at seeing what the community wanted to see. Instead, they rushed a movie that ruined many people’s favorite franchise.
Another thing that could be critiqued is the spy-themed movie for cars. Even though the movie was overall a good movie, they took away the racing in the original cars to make an action movie. The whole idea with talking cars being involved in an action film is different from the original racing movie. Many people viewed this as a “random movie” with no relations to the other movies.
The movie deserves a 7/10. The movie makes the viewer feel their “inner-child” again, but the movie was rushed and forced.
