SIT, RELAX, ENJOY: ROHRER’S CATS CAFE

Mrs. Rohrer is a teacher at Struthers High School. She teaches Life Planning, Nutrition and Wellness and Child Development. She is mainly known for running the Cats Cafe.

This teacher has a passion for cooking, so she’s the perfect candidate for “leading” the cafe. She works hard to make sure everything is set to run smoothly every Friday. The Life Planning teacher is very dedicated to her job and her students.

Rohrer knew she wanted to be a teacher since high school.

“I started working at a pre-school after high school, and I liked being in the classroom. I also like the content I get to teach with Family and Consumer Science; it’s very hands-on and creative,” says the teacher.

She has been teaching for 22 years. Just hearing that, everyone can tell how much she enjoys it, even though it wasn’t her first option for jobs. Over time, she has grown into the job and now puts a lot of effort into helping students in need.

Cats Cafe  has some student  favorites.

“Our caramel iced coffee is our best selling drink for sure. We usually sell out of our weekly specials each week,” says Mrs Rohrer.

The Nutrition and Wellness teacher works hard to make her classroom a place where students feel comfortable and supported. She takes time to explain things clearly so everyone can understand. Because of this, many students enjoy being in her class and feel more confident learning.

The Cats Cafe classes stand out for the job-like environment.

“I truly like all of my classes, but the Cats Cafe classes are just different because they are handled more like a job/business. The students have responsibilities and we get to work together a lot in the cafe class. There is a lot of collaboration in the cafe class and I like that,” says the child development teacher.
