“HIGHSCHOOL MUSICAL” FLIES INTO ACTION

Walt Disney produces yet another coming of age film.

“High School Musical” is an hour and 38 minute long film that dives into the experience of Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) who had met Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) at a New Year’s Eve party while on vacation. This film is filled with the intense and fun experiences between the two high schoolers as they start to build their relationship while others try and get in between them. This highlights the humorous and wild reactions of those around them, setting the film into motion.

Something that can be learned from this film is that sometimes people can change you for the better good. At the beginning of the film, Troy hated singing; he only focused on basketball, nothing else, but as soon as Gabriella wanted to join the upcoming musical he changed his mind. The people around them change drastically as well, changing how they view things, not sticking to their status quo. The two characters grow a strong relationship. Although they deal with characters getting in their way, they always manage to come back just as connected.

Another thing that can be learned from this film is the importance of friendship. As Troy starts getting closer to Gabriella, his friends aren’t as supportive, only wanting him to focus on basketball. They try to make him change his mind on certain view points. Trying to make him keep his head where it needs to be: right on the court. But as much as Troy tries to, he fails as his love for Gabriella is too strong. His friend Chad (Corbin Bleu) finally supports his decision. All of his friends and those on the basketball team are all there to be there for him and Gabriella in the end as they’re in the musical together.

All in all, “High School Musical” is recommended for those who enjoy a good rom-com. It’s rated TV-G.
