The live action “Alice in Wonderland” was released on March 5, 2010 in theaters. It has a runtime of an hour and forty-eight minutes.
Tim Burton directed “Alice in Wonderland” which follows a girl accidentally returning to a magical world she used to visit in her childhood. Throughout the movie, Alice (Mia Wasikowska) has trouble figuring out who she really is and what she wants to do with her life. In Wonderland, she helps the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) and others reclaim the throne back to the White Queen (Anne Hathaway) because the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) is evil. After overcoming the Red Queen, Alice goes back to her real life and figures out what life has in store for her.
“Alice in Wonderland” is mostly made out of cgi and green screens. They created almost all of the characters with the cgi, including the Cheshire Cat, March Hare, White Rabbit, and the Bandersnatch. They also used cgi to make the Red Queens head larger which is a very important part of the story. Without the cgi the movie wouldn’t be as popular as it is.
The acting in the movie is very outstanding and really brought the characters to life. Johnny Depp played Mad Hatter; he did an amazing job showing how bipolar he could get and how insane he was. Helena Bonham Carter successfully portrayed how evil the Red Queen is. Both of these actors are a huge part of the movie’s success and shows how your mental health can affect you.
Overall, this movie is recommended to anyone who enjoys dark fantasy movies.
