The junior class was previously interviewed about their feelings toward taking the ACT. Before taking the test, there was a lot of uncertainty and nervousness. The students were then interviewed post ACT to compare the differences of how they felt toward taking the test.
The students were first asked if they believed they did well on the ACT. The majority of people are hopeful in getting a decent score. Although the students are slightly nervous to receive their scores back, they are aware of the ability to retake the ACT. The strong mindset amongst them all was that there will always be room for improvement. It is worth trying your best but is not something to constantly stress over. The students hope to get scholarships in exchange for their good score. The juniors that do not find importance in the ACT are not planning to go to college, but rather pursue a career in trade school.
The juniors strive for a good ACT score to prepare for college .
“The ACT is important to me because I have high hopes for my future and college,” says Haley Hoffman.
“It is important to me because I need scholarships for college,” says Liv Waback.
“My ACT score is important to me because it will help me have more options for colleges,” says Liz Smolnack.
“I am going into trade school and do not need it for my major,” says Joseph DelSignore.
The juniors prepared for the ACT by getting good sleep the night before the test and eating breakfast in the morning. They also find it important to properly prepare for the ACT by taking preparation classes, doing online practice tests and reviewing packets that the teachers provide. They found the resources that the teachers provided them with to be effective and helpful as the test day got closer.
Preparing for the ACT takes more than just studying.
“I slept well and took off work the day before,” says Hoffman.
“I took home ACT prep packets and reviewed the material,” says Waback.
“I did not stress and went over a lot of ACT reviews,” says Smolnik.
“I reviewed the practice sheets our teachers provided,” says DelSignore.
“I went on the website and did the practice tests,” says Cruz.
The juniors learned various techniques that helped them with accomplishing the ACT. A majority of them agreed on simple tasks that made a big difference while taking the test. Getting good sleep the night before, and eating breakfast is believed to ensure success. Regulating your stress levels and not overthinking is very important while entering your test. These basic tasks made a big difference in the juniors’ experience while taking the ACT.
The students give ACT advice to upcoming juniors.
“Get good sleep and eat breakfast,” says Hoffman.
“Take ACT prep classes,” says Waback.
“Do not stress over it and eat breakfast before you take the test,” says Smolnik.
“Take practice ACT’s and hope for the best,” says DelSignore.
”Get good sleep the night before,” says Cruz.
There are mixed opinions relating to retaking the ACT. The students understand the importance of the ACT for college but feel otherwise if someone is pursuing a trade school career. Most of the juniors anticipate to take the ACT again in hopes to achieve their sought after score. Students that are not planning to retake the test do not plan to attend college.
Some students debate on retaking the ACT.
“I plan to retake the ACT because I want to make sure I get the best possible score I can,” says Hoffman.
“I may take the ACT again depending on what I got there. There is always room for improvement, and I may be able to achieve a higher score,” says Waback.
“I will retake the ACT to see if I can get a better score,” says Smolnik.
“I do not plan to retake the ACT because I do not need the test score to be successful,” says DelSignore.
“I will not take the ACT again because the score will not interfere with my future,” says Cruz.
