Talyzik Lowery is a student athlete at Struthers High School. He is a proud member of the Wildcats boys’ basketball team.
Known for Lowery’s determination and love for this sport, he has spent twelve years developing his skills and love for basketball. Over the years, basketball has become an important aspect to his life both on and off the court. Throughout the seasons, Talyzik has built strong relationships with his coaches and teammates.
All through this athlete’s career, he has had many teammates. But, he will never forget about the one who currently inspires him to keep going with this sport.
“I look up to Micah Neider; he is very smart; he plays the game at his pace and he never gets mad at players,” says the sophomore.
For Lowery, playing this sport is about more than just competing against other teams. One of his favorite things about this sport is building many friendships and cherishing his time on the court because he knows high school ball won’t last forever. Due to this, he believes it is important to not take this opportunity for granted.
Although the athlete has been playing this sport for numerous years, Lowery still has one personal goal he wants to achieve before his high school career comes to an end.
“I would like to earn a varsity letter with zero JV minutes,” he says.
As the sophomore was growing up, he watched a lot of professional basketball games as well. This is one of the main reasons Lowery decided to go through with playing this sport.
Even though watching basketball was a major contribution to him getting into this, he also has one professional athlete in mind that personally changed it all for him.
“Another professional athlete is Steph Curry. He is a small player and can shoot which correlates to me, but the difference is he’s obviously a professional athlete,” says Lowery.
