Mr. Silver is a dedicated math teacher and swim coach who works hard to support and guide his students both in the classroom and in the pool. Through his coaching and teaching he encourages discipline, teamwork and confidence in the students he works with.
The geometry teacher has spent years building his experience in swimming and coaching. His background in the sport helps him guide swimmers as they improve their skills and confidence in the water. As both a teacher and a coach, he enjoys helping students grow and succeed.
Silver’s comfort in the water started early in his life.
“I started swimming at a young age because I didn’t have a fear of water. My family went to the beach every year, and I’d be the first in the ocean. Because of this, my mom signed me up for swim lessons. I really enjoyed them, and the instructor said that the swim team would be a great fit for me. I joined at 9 years old and competed every summer until I graduated high school,” says Silver.
Outside of competitions and practices, the coach focuses on helping his swimmers build strong work habits. He emphasizes dedication, patience and teamwork both in and out of the pool. Many students appreciate his support because he encourages them to push themselves while still being able to enjoy the sport.
Silver offers his advice about pursuing and pushing through.
“I’d say to “keep moving forward.” There’s always going to be challenges in both learning and swimming. As long as you can put in the work to move on, you can be accomplished in both,” says Silver.
The coach wants his students to learn more than just how to swim. He hopes they learn to work hard and not give up when things get tough. As a teacher and coach, he tries to help his students do their best every day.
Silver has grown his passion for teaching.
“I’ve honestly always loved both. Teaching took more time than swimming but just like with swimming, the more I do it and practice it, the better I’ve gotten and the more I’ve enjoyed it,” says Silver.
