“THE HUNGER GAMES” STORY CONTINUES ON

Following the first movie of the series, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” was released in 2013. It was directed by Francis Lawrence, and continues to be one of the most popular films today.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” released in 2013, begins with showing Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark’s (Josh Hutcherson) life after winning the 74th Hunger Games. However, after a rebellion begins, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) decides to force past victors to compete in the Hunger Games, meaning Katniss and Peeta have no other choice than to try to survive. While making alliances with other victors, such as Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) and Johanna Mason (Jena Malone), Katniss figures out how much more difficult it will be to make it out alive. However, outside of the Hunger Games, the 12 districts are on the brink of war.

A big part of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” are the settings throughout the story. The beginning shows Peeta and Katniss on tour after their victory. As they travel to every district, Panem is shown to be like a prison. Then, the setting changes to the arena. The arena is designed to mentally and physically ruin the victors. This will make the games more personal and raise the stakes, and this is done to please the audience and the capital, as well as make the past victors suffer for their rebellion.

The character bonds throughout the plot grow stronger because of the battles they go through together. Katniss and Peeta’s relationship starts off as a forced romance into a deep and genuine partnership. They become best friends, and they trust each other more than any of the other characters. However, this then transforms into a true romantic relationship. They learn to rely on one another and always make sure to put each other’s needs before their own.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is a 5/5 star rating because of the high stakes and how it can keep viewers entertained the whole time.
