Mihali Kavouras is a freshman athlete at Struthers High School.
Kavouras is a multi-sport athlete who has played sports for most of his life. His inspiration for baseball comes from his parents and football comes from pure interest.
The young athlete expects to play these sports all throughout high school.
“I plan to play baseball and football for the rest of high school because I have done sports all my life and couldn’t imagine not playing. Also, most of my memories are from sports and wouldn’t want to give that up,” says Kavouras.
After the previous football season and the upcoming baseball season, he has been busy practicing and perfecting little things within the sports. Kavouras attends football liftings throughout the week and baseball open-gyms every Wednesday. Out of school, he is still working and is motivated for future seasons.
Kavouras is practicing with his coaches to perform to the best of his abilities.
“To get better in football, I’m working with my coaches over the off season to improve on anything I can. And in baseball, working out in my free time and swinging often,” says Kavouras.
After playing one season of high school football, and almost beginning a season of baseball, he has learned a few things. Throughout games and practices, he thinks that effort is the main importance of all athletics, even for incoming high school athletes too.
Kavouras believes that athletes should put a lot of attention into their athletics.
“For younger athletes, make sure you are willing to give your all and put in all of the effort you have,” says Kavouras.
Struthers’ sports have changed Kavouras’ perspective on athletics. Before this year began, he was considering quitting football. After one season, his whole entire perspective has changed and now, more than ever, he is excited to take the field for baseball and football.
