Tommy Cole is a senior at Struthers High School; he plays a major role on the basketball team. He has played for 15 years. His old position was point guard, but now he plays shooting guard.
The student has played basketball almost all his life. Now that he is on his journey to graduating it comes to an end.
The student focuses on getting his work done at school rather than home so he has time after school to rest up for games. He is dedicated to doing well not only for himself but his team.
“Getting my school work done in school so I don’t have any to worry about when we leave school. It gives me time to do other things,” says the athlete.
Lots of students don’t enjoy taking time outside of their sport to be better but this student goes above and beyond to further better himself.
Cole spends his time playing outside of games and practices to advance his skill in the sport. He tries to be the best version of himself, this is how he has advanced from the past to the present.
“I like to get extra shots up in the summer and do some move work during open gyms,” says the senior.
There is always someone who you look up to that keeps you motivated whether it’s a celebrity, sibling, friend, or even teacher. But this student looks up to his dad.
Cole’s father is his biggest role model, not only in basketball but in life. His dad is who keeps him motivated to be a great player.
“My dad is my inspiration, he always tells me to just keep working hard and it will eventually pay off,” says the basketball player.
