Walt Disney presents yet another comedy film.
“The Parent Trap” is a two hour and eight minute long movie that dives into the experience of Hallie Parker (Lindsy Lohan) who is starting her first day in an all-girls summer camp. The film takes a turn as she finds her twin sister is also attending the camp, Annie (Lindsy Lohan.) The movie is filled with the twins’ crazy experiences as they get to learn about each other. It also highlights the humorous reactions of others around them as they try to bring their parents together. This really set the film in motion, making it like no other film.
Something that can be learned from this movie is the importance of family. At the beginning of the movie, Hallie and Annie struggle to get along with each other until that’s when they learn that they’re sisters in camp. They get stuck together in the isolation cabin, forced to bond together. They both form a plan to bring their parents back together as the twins enjoy their time as siblings, building their bond together. Not only did it affect the characters around them, but they also made their family stronger. The unexpected turn of events changed the two sisters completely.
Another thing that can be learned from this film is how love always brings people together. Hallie and Annie’s dad, Nick Parker (Dennis Quaid) was engaged; he wasn’t aware that his soon to be wife Meredith Blake (Elaine Hendrix) was using him for his money. The two sisters went to the process of switching places as Hallie played the part as Annie, visiting her mom, Elizabeth Jones (Natasha Richardson) while Annie played as Hallie, visiting Nick. The struggle to get the parents together is highlighted throughout the film. Nick ends up leaving Meredith as his love for Elizabeth is still going on strong. This showed how a strong bond always brings people back together and that love never tends to go away.
All in all, ‘The Parent Trap” is recommended for those who enjoy a good comedy film. It is rated PG as it is recommended for those coming to age.
