DENNISON SMASHES EXPECTATIONS IN FIRST YEAR TEACHING

Ms. Dennison is a first-year teacher at Struthers High School. She teaches Psychology, Sociology, and Principles of Democracy. Although she is a first year teacher, she is already integrating well into the favorites of the student body. So far she loves her students, as well as her first year as a teacher here at Struthers.

She teaches multiple, enjoyable classes. She likes teaching all of these classes.

The first year teacher wants students to benefit from taking her classes and enjoys watching them learn.

“My first year teaching has been fantastic! I am very excited for what the rest of the year brings,” says Dennison.

Dennison desires for all of her students to succeed in both her classroom, and their careers outside of it. One of the biggest problems for her students is attendance.

The college graduate, Dennison wants her kids to show up to class on time and ready, so that they can succeed like her and other YSU graduates have.

“The biggest tip I would give to all students, especially those in my class, would be to come to school. More than half the battle is showing up, and the students that show the most success are the students that are consistently in school,” says Dennison.

Her favorite class to teach is Sociology because it’s the most interesting. She enjoys hearing her students’ variety of perspectives when she teaches.

The multi-subject teacher recommends two of her classes in specific for students to take.

“I would recommend both Psychology and Sociology because it is very interactive through projects and activities that allow the students to learn things about themselves and the world around them,” says Dennison.
