DICAPRIO PLAYS BIGGEST CON-ARTIST

DICAPRIO PLAYS BIGGEST CON-ARTIST

“Catch Me If You Can” is a movie based off of a semi-real event that took place in 1969.

The whole movie is an exaggeration of the real life advent that happened many years ago. Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo Dicaprio) steals millions of dollars in forged checks. In the start of the movie, he impersonates an airline pilot, later going on to impersonate a doctor then lawyer. In the movie, he cashes out over 30 different checks totaling more than 3 million dollars. Throughout the whole movie, the cops are trailing him, trying to figure out who was cashing these fraudulent checks. Once the heat was too much for Frank Abaganel he fled to Germany. At the very end of the movie on Christmas Day, they caught him in Germany by using an elaborate plan.

This movie plays an amazing “cat and mouse” role, as the whole movie was about Frank Jr. and the cops chasing him. Not many movies pull off this plot as well as “Catch Me If You Can.” The back and forth game between them is what makes the movie interesting. The cops are always getting close but somehow just barely misses the opportunity to catch Frank. While in the end the cat does win, which makes a very interesting plot twist.

Dicaprio is the perfect actor for this character. He gives the right amount of energy that is needed to be a con artist. Frank Abagnale is a high energy and intrusive character which is shown through Dicaprio. No other actor fits Abagnale characteristics.

Overall, this movie receives a perfect score due to the “cat and mouse” development and plot.
