“THE GAME PLAN” SCORES AGAIN

“THE GAME PLAN” SCORES AGAIN

Walt Disney Pictures presents yet another comedy film.

“The Game Plan” is an hour and fifty two minute long movie that dives into the experience of a famous football star, Joe Kingman (Dwayne Johnson.) He’s very self-centered, focused on his football career but not ready for any serious life challenges. That was until he found out he had a daughter, Peyton Kelly (Madison Pettis).  The film is filled with Joe’s crazy new experience in fatherhood, showing the humorous parts of his life. The good and the bad. The multiple reactions of others around them really sets the film off in motion, making the film one of a kind.

Something that can be learned about this film is that everything happens for a reason, even if it’s meant to humble you. Life is filled with unexpected things. As the movie deepens, Joe thought he had it all: a star football player, lived in a penthouse, could get any girl he wanted. But he was selfish, looking only after himself; that’s when Peyton came in. A little girl showing up on his doorstep and claiming that he was her father. The unexpected turn of events changed Joe as a person completely. Making him realize that there was more to life than what he thought. Peyton was his eye opener, as he dealt with his new lifestyle of becoming a father. Not only did it affect the characters around him, but it also affected his relationship with his daughter. Their bond grows stronger through the film.

Another thing that can be learned from this film is the importance of finding balance. Joe learns that football can’t just be his main priority now that Peyton is in his life. Having to deal with choosing between going to late night parties or staying home with his daughter. At the beginning of the movie, Joe had accidentally left Peyton at the grand opening of his restaurant. This really goes to show how self-absord Joe was in the beginning of the film as he was still unused to being a father. Throughout the film, Joe is able to be there for not only his teammates but also for Peyton and her dreams for ballet, as he even performs in Peyton’s ballet recital.  His character continues to grow to become a supportive father, making up for lost time.

All and all, ‘The Game Plan’ is recommended for those who enjoy a good comedy film. It is rated PG as it is recommended for younger children.
