“My Life with the Walter Boys” follows a broken teenager, who moves into a Colorado household with many sons. She learns to navigate her grief, her love life and friendships.
Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) moves from New York to Colorado after an incident that leads to the death of her family. The Walter family brings her in because Jackie’s mom was close to their family and saw them as good guardians. She finds out how different her life is going to be and has to adapt to her new life. The Walters are chaotic, yet very loving. She has to learn how to live with the grief of her family, while also finding herself in a messy love triangle with two of the Walter brothers. Cole Walter (Noah LaLonde), who is seen as rebellious and loves football, and Alex Walter (Ashby Gentry), smart and bookish. The love triangle makes her time spent with the Walters a little bit more challenging.
The themes of “My Life with the Walter Boys” are self-discovery and chosen family. Jackie is following the theme of self-discovery because she has to learn a lot about herself while developing her new life with the Walters. She has to figure out what she really wants and has to learn that it’s fine to put herself before others sometimes. Also, the chosen family theme comes from Jackie finding her family though the Walters.
The relationship between Jackie and the Walter boys was difficult at first. Not only Jackie had to adapt to her new life, but all the children in the house had to adapt to another girl being introduced to the family. Also, she found herself in an interesting relationship with two of the siblings. She had to figure out how to keep everyone happy, including herself.
The show “My Life with the Walter Boys” deserves a 4/5 star rating. It keeps the viewer entertained and is unique in its own way.
