“TANGLED” CHANGES SHOW

"TANGLED" CHANGES SHOW

Walt Disney Animations presents yet another romance film.

“Tangled” is an hour and forty minute long movie that dives into the experience of a young girl, Rapunzel (Mandy Moore). She’s a go-lucky girl filled with so many dreams that she wants to chase. The film starts off by giving the backstory of Rapunzel’s life,  a lost princess who got kidnapped by an old woman, Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy). This is because Rapunzel has a gift–a gift to heal. The film is filled with drama, romance and funny actions that roll into place. The reactions of characters around her really sets the film into motion as she goes on her wild adventure of discovery.

Something that can be gathered from the film is the importance of finding yourself. As the movie dives in, Rapunzel’s eighteenth birthday is coming up soon, and she’s never been able to leave the tower, as Mother Gothel would not let her. She begs Mother Gothel to take her to see the lanterns on her birthday, but Mother Gothel refuses to let her leave the tower. Rapunzel struggles throughout the film with finding herself. She goes on a wild adventure with Flynn Rider (Zaharcy Levi) as he helps Rapunzel find herself, making her realize the importance of finding herself since she spent her whole life locked away in the tower. He uplifts her spirit throughout the film as they deal with the wild chase of the guards and also dealing with Mother Gothel coming for them. Rapunzel realizes there is more to life than she knew. At the end of the film, she finds herself and finds her family. If she never would’ve gone on that journey then she would have been  stuck in the tower, unable to discover her identity.

Another thing that can be gathered from the film is the importance of facing fears. Rapunzel spent her life being locked away–she was scared of facing the outside world. She spent her days in the tower alone with her pet lizard, her only friend that she had. She barely had any human interactions with people. Once she escaped the tower, she faced the fears of the outside world. Her hair being cut, running from guards, going to see the lanterns with Flynn were all things that Mother Gothel tried to keep her from so that she could use her for her healing powers. She dealt with people trying to hold her back, but she kept going. At the end of the film, Rapunzel felt like she could conquer anything. Meeting her parents and finding the man that she loved really made her realize that she made up for time that she spent locked away.

All in all, “Tangled” is recommended for those who love a good romance film. It’s mainly for a younger audience but has some vile actions that take place, making it PG.
