“HOMEFRONT” CARRIES WEIGHT OF REDEMPTION

“Homefront” is a  2013 action/thriller film directed by Gary Fleder and written by Sylvester Stallone.

This movie had a budget of 22 million dollars and made a total of 51 million dollars. “Homefront” begins with Phil Broker (Jason Statham) doing his job as a DEA agent where he is undercover in a gang. Cops eventually show up because Phil’s job was to notify them of every move, which made stuff go down hill pretty fast. This resulted in the death of the gang leader’s son, JoJo. After this event, Broker decides it’s time to retire and moves to a town in Rayville, Louisiana with his daughter. His daughter Maddy gets into a fight with a bully named Teddy Klum. Cassie being the mother of Teddy was frustrated and got her brother involved. Later on, her brother Gator finds out Broker is the reason the crime boss got thrown into jail. They planned to get his daughter away from Broker and kill him. This movie consistently showed that peace wasn’t always possible, especially in Brokers point of view.

One downside about the movie is that the movie is pretty cliche. Many of the critics that watched this movie said that many parts were very predictable. The critics would say things like “a retired agent forced to be violent feels too common.” Some of these include movies like “Nobody,” “Taken” and “The Old Man.” That’s one downside about the movie.

Another thing that could be critiqued is the “petty conflict.” Many critics would say that this deadly scary conflict all started from a backyard school fight, which many people found unconvincing of a drive for conflict. People suggested that instead they should’ve added something to make the conflict more dramatic and original. That’s another thing that could be critiqued in the movie “Homefront.”

The movie deserves a 6.7/10. This is due to the fact that they chose a great cast, just the wrong plot.
