Owen Eisenbraun is a senior at Struthers High School, but is academically involved through MCCTC. He is involved in multiple sports. Eisenbraun played golf for one year and has played tennis for 4 years. Bowling has been the sport he’s participated in the longest which would be 13 years.
The student athlete started bowling due to his family. His dad started bowling when he was in high school, and his brother got a scholarship from doing this sport.
Bowling isn’t just a sport to Owen, it is a family custom that continues shaping who he is and his journey throughout life.
“It is a family tradition of ours. My dad started bowling in high school at Struthers, my brother was the Struthers High School bowler to get a scholarship to bowl in college. Family traditions are very important to me. I felt that it was only right for me to bowl in high school,” says the senior.
When doing sports, there tends to be many coaches and nothing ever stays the same, especially when doing the sport outside of school. With having an array of leaders, the student council member has learned tons of skills.
Having multiple coaches can be very useful because they give advice, the challenges they’ve faced and things that have made them be the coach and player they are.
“I have had a lot of different coaches throughout the years. All of them help me a lot throughout the offseason. I would say working and practicing with Doug Kuberski (YSU women’s bowling head coach) has been extremely beneficial to my growth as a bowler, specifically sophomore year to now. Outside of this, I also bowl in different tournaments across Ohio, as well as bowl in different leagues during the spring and summer,” says the student athlete.
Eisenbraun is an extremely hard working and dedicated student. He works ahead in life so he can accomplish more for his future.
With such a strong work ethic and forward thinking mindset, he is envisioning his future role in Allied health and pre-nursing.
“Outside of tennis and bowling, a lot of my time is spent working at the Windsor House at Canfield as a State Tested Nursing Assistant. Outside of that, there isn’t a whole bunch, but I’m a member of the National Technical Honors Society as well as Student Council at MCCTC. My favorite part about being in all these things would be getting to help others,” says Eisenbraun.
