Isaiah Cortez Laskey is a sophomore student at Struthers High School. He is a proud member of the Wildcats boys basketball team.
The student athlete not only plays basketball, but he runs track as well. The Wildcats season has just started, and Laskey has hope for them this year. Laskey enjoys playing basketball and the company of his teammates.
Cortez believes he could go further than just playing high school basketball somewhere in the near future.
“I love basketball a ton, and I would love to go play college basketball and keep competing,” says the student athlete.
When playing, he believes that you shouldn’t get down on yourself, no matter how many mistakes you have made. The athlete’s number one goal this season is to help his team win the championship.
He thinks that your attitude on the court should always be positive to perform to your fullest potential.
“To me, the most important thing is having confidence no matter who you’re going against,” says the basketball player.
The athlete enjoys the home games the most because that’s when everyone comes to support them. When a lot of people show up, he believes the atmosphere of the game is overall better.
Cortez strongly agrees that having a big crowd during home games gives the team more confidence in winning.
“The big crowds on Friday nights cheering everyone on. I really like the atmosphere whenever we have those games or even away games as well,” says Laskey.
