“The Rookie” is a procedural drama about John Nolan, a 40-year-old man who becomes the oldest rookie in the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) after a life-changing incident.
The show follows one of the oldest rookies in LA, John Nolan (Nathan Fillion). Before he wanted to be a cop, he was a retired construction worker. John was caught in a robbery at the bank but tackled the robber and saved everyone. This made him want to come out of retirement and pursue becoming a cop. One of the show’s main characters named Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) plays a big role in this show because while John Nolan was in rookie training; she was in the same class as him. They graduated together. They were in a relationship as well. She plays a big role because she is one of the main focuses in the show, besides Nolan. There are other main characters in this show that have big roles, but it’s all the same for everyone. The show just focuses on everyone’s different lives. There are some sad stories, and they’re also some very happy stories that happened in this show.
The props used in the show are so realistic and cool. The producers used fake props to make the show. While the guns were fake that they used and so were the majority of the other props that were seen in the show, the audience couldn’t tell. They made the shots fired and explosive bombs look so real. This is what brought the show together.
They take advantage of the strong character development that the show has had. The producers explored the growth and lives of the different characters. They made their characters develop so much from the beginning of the seasons to the last season. The producers made this idea of character development make the show ten times better.
This show deserves a 10/10 because the show was really good, and the producers did an amazing job with the props and character development.
