Gino Coppola is a freshman who plays basketball at Struthers High School. He is also involved in clubs like the Interact Club, Future Medical Careers Club, French Club and more.
Coppola has played basketball for Struthers since 8th grade and still plays today. He is a straight A student with many achievements academically. The athlete goes to every practice while still maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
The young student puts all of his effort into school and getting his work done, but also loves to play basketball too.
“I have to manage my time and try way harder to get my work done. With basketball taking up most of my days, I have to be smarter and find the time myself,” said Coppola.
Excluding a winning or a losing season, Coppola thinks that there is more than just the record. He thinks that our sports team should represent, or reflect, our school in a positive way, regardless of the outcome of the game.
Coppola demonstrates pride in our school with sports and extracurricular activities.
“I think the people in the school reflect us well because of our passion and effort for sports and other activities,” said Coppola.
The scholar got into basketball from a young age through watching the NBA. When watching it, he thought to himself that he wanted to be like them. He knew it would be a lot of work, and each day, he puts more effort into the sport to be the best he can be.
The athlete works as hard as he can to be the best version of himself.
“I got into basketball by watching pro players thinking that I wanted to be as good as them. And now I try my best to play as well as I can,” said Coppola.
Not just in basketball, but Coppola works as hard as he can for our school. He keeps good grades, is in many clubs and plays basketball. For him, he is making his freshman year as good as it can get and is slowly setting up his future in the right direction.
