DONOFRIO DOMINATES ON SIDELINE

Angelina Donofrio is a junior in high school. The athlete is a part of Interact Club, Future Teachers Club and Medical Careers Club. Donofrio cheers, bowls, has a job and still maintains good grades and a good GPA.

Donofrio has been cheering for a total of eight years with the exception of quitting from fifth grade until she was in eighth grade. She’s always looked up to her older sister Sarah, and since she cheered in high school this made Angelina want to cheer to be just like her.

Donofrio looks up to her family which encourages her to take passion in sports.

“I started cheering at 8 years old and stopped cheering til my 8th grade year, and I started cheering because my older sister cheered in high school. She told me how much she loved it, so I wanted to try it,” says the student.

Cheering has made a big impact on the athlete, but some teammates have made an even bigger one. Donofrio has many teammates she appreciates or looks up to but one in particular sticks out to her.

Donofrio has found a friend and teacher in one person in particular.

“My favorite teammate is Sam Minno. She always makes me laugh no matter what and helps hype me up when I get into my head about stunts,” says Donofrio.

The junior aspires to be cheer captain her senior year because she believes she has the ability to limit and minimize drama that comes from varsity sports.

Donofrio wants to be a leader of the cheerleading squad.

“I think I would want to be captain. I think I would be able to have everyone come together and there be no–to minimal–drama,” says Donofrio.
