Natalee Caldwell is a sophomore at Struthers High School. She has been cheering for 2 years and just finished her first year of golf for the school as well.
The athlete started cheering for the first time during her freshman year of high school. As a kid, Caldwell spent a lot of time at her brother’s football games admiring the cheerleaders on the sidelines. This sparked her interest in cheering, so when she reached high school she decided to try out for the team.
The student feels that one of her biggest motivations to do her best is by following her role model Addison Liptak.
“My biggest inspiration is Addie Liptak. From day one throughout school, cheer and eventually golf, she’s stood out to me because she always has a smile on her face and is the kindest soul to anyone around her,” says Caldwell.
While the athlete has to stay active with cheer, she also is managing her time with other activities. She has to tackle golf, and clubs such as French Club, Interact Club, Medical Careers Club, Future Teachers Club, Pep Club and Art Club. Although it may be stressful, Caldwell would recommend cheerleading to others because it fills her with joy.
The cheerleader believes everyone should have the opportunity to feel the positivity that she does on a Friday night.
“I would want everybody to feel the happiness I feel after scoring a touchdown,” says the athlete.
The thing that Natalee Caldwell looks forward to the most is getting to perform with her team. She looks forward to the positive energy from her squad and enjoys being with them. The feeling of knowing that you have people supporting you and cheering you on is amazing, and it motivates Caldwell to do her very best.
Calwell loves the idea of continuing her cheerleading career after high school, but she is doubtful of her ability.
“I would like to cheer after high school but am unsure if I have enough skill,” says the student.
