Laufey released her 3rd studio album, A Matter of Time, on August 22, 2025, making it her highest charting album on the Billboard 200, debuting at 4th place and getting a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
A Matter of Time is a 45 minute long 14 track album by jazz artist Laufey. On the album, there are four singles: “Tough Luck,” “Lover Girl,” “Snow White” and “Silver Lining.” This album is a mix of jazz and pop with some very strong and vulnerable tracks on it. Laufey decided to be more open with this album and made it more personal to herself. She implements classical features and uses lots of classical instruments within this album. In the first week, it had sold 99,000 equivalent album units, 71,000 of which being pure sales.
This album is a very personal one to Laufey, including deeper tracks like “Snow White” and “Castle in Hollywood.” It also explores themes of romance and love while still showing aspects of this vulnerability. Compared to her other albums, this one shows a lot more emotion and depth which she captures perfectly with the different genres used. There is a mixture of more upbeat, happier songs and sadder, slower songs on the album. It perfectly blends pop, jazz and classical, making it a diverse and enjoyable album. How Laufey captures emotion while using all different sounds makes this album theatrical and fun.

The lyrics on this album are very detailed and descriptive, making it an immersive listening experience. It is written extremely well, making it relatable and authentic. There is lots of emotional depth and insecurity on the album which fans can connect with and interpret in their own ways. Overall, the lyrics on this album are well written and introspective.
