-Timestamps record the beginning of the statement or noise.

0:00 [Henry Wiles] – This is Henry Wiles, interviewing a witness to the case of Kathy Williams, a victim of the Alima Audio Tape Killer. I’m here with… Wiles trails off.

0:12 [Monica Myers] – Rustling can be heard. Right. Uhm, Monica. Monica Myers. This place is…cozy.

0:20 [Henry Wiles] – Right, thank you. Wiles clears his throat. Why don’t you start at the beginning?

0:26 [Monica Myers] – Yes, of course. My friend, Kathy, always has a hard time.

0:31 -Silence

0:41 [Monica Myers] – Connecting with people I mean. One day though she came home—we shared an apartment—and she told me she had met someone. That was in March of 2023. She told me he listened like nobody else she’d ever met. She would gush about her favorite things and most people thought it was because she only cared what she had to say. It wasn’t true though…She was kind, she was just…passionate.

1:15 [Henry Wiles] – Please try to stick to facts about the case and not opinions. I’m not here because I think Kathy walked into it or anything like that. I just want to know what happened.

1:26 [Monica Myers] – I’m sorry. I just—she was my best friend, you have to understand that.

1:33 -Long pause followed with a sigh

1:43 [Monica Myers] – Kathy would come home late smelling like a forest. She was really into plants and bugs so I just assumed this man was indulging her. She would tell me about how he—

1:55 -A shaky breath and sniffing can be heard.

2:01 [Monica Myers] – Sorry. She would tell me that he recorded her. That he thought the way her mind was, was so interesting and her voice so beautiful that he was sure he could create a podcast out of the recordings he took. That b–man. That man would pretend to be interested in her words so he could play that sick game, just as he did with those other women. He would invite her to places with nobody around and record as she gushed to him about everything. She would tell me how he would sit there and listen, his eyes gleaming with interest. She would talk about how he would listen without a word sometimes, encouraging her rants. Looking back, I think it was interest, but not in what she was saying. I think that look that she mistook for adoration was predatory. He was hunting her.

3:02 [Henry Wiles] – Can you tell me anything else about him? Have you ever met the killer? I mean if you lived with her surely he must have have picked her up, or maybe even have come inside?

3:14 [Monica Myers] – Oh, well yes I met him only once. The night Kathy went missing. I don’t think he knew she lived with someone. He knocked on the door and I saw him—well I caught a glimpse when she opened the door. He looked…messy. He sounded out of breath. I saw his brown hair, it was wavy and went down to the bottom of his ears, he had a middle part. He had a pale complexion and freckled cheeks. His nose had a defined Greek look to it. His features were sharp from what I could see. He was slimmer but had some muscle.

3:57 [Henry Wiles] – You seem to remember him quite vividly.

4:01 -(Presumably Monica) a bitter laugh is heard.

4:03 [Monica Myers] – Of course I do. You don’t forget the face of the person who took your best friend from you. I mean every time I sleep, I dream of the things I can remember from that night. I try to grasp for anything I could have warned her about. I never do find anything of course. What was I supposed to say? Be careful, that one styles his hair in a middle part. Or even better, his jawline is too sharp. There was no detail I could pick from his appearance that set him apart from any other man. Nothing that made him look evil. It’s not like in books where they wear cloaks and have claws.

4:50 [Henry Wiles] – You dream of him every night?

4:52 [Monica Myers] – Yes. Why do you ask?

4:55 [Henry Wiles] – Nothing, could you describe him once more please? However, I’d like you to do it in a list form, if that’s alright.

5:04 [Monica Myers] – Oh, uhm, sure. I don’t see what difference it will make. Brown and wavy hair worn in a middle part. Pale skin and freckled cheeks. Slimmer but had… Her words slow as she talks until she trails off.

5:17 [Henry Wiles] – Please, do continue.

5:20 [Monica Myers] – Muscle—inaudible—how much longer are you going to play this game with me?

5:30 –There is a long silence in which there isn’t even the sound of movement. All that can be heard is two sets of breath. One steady and one that is quickening as if panicked. A chair can then be heard being pushed and running can be heard. A woman’s yell can be heard as a struggle ensues. [DESCRIPTION OF SUBSEQUENT EVENTS HAVE BEEN REDACTED FROM PUBLIC RECORDS]

9:40 -The struggling comes to a stop and footsteps approach the tape recorder.
