BAYUK STEPS DOWN AS STRUTHERS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH

Mr. John Bayuk, a teacher at Struthers High School and a previous coach for the Struthers Wildcats football team. Bayuk stepped down from his position after the 2024 season. He teaches both American history and financial literacy. He is the type of teacher to always make sure his students stay on top of their work and don’t mess around.

Bayuk has been involved in football since 2004. When he stopped coaching it was a huge change for him. Bayuk decided one day he wanted his focus to be towards his family and kids.

He was encountering obstacles with being on the field too much.

“The most significant challenge I faced was spending more time and energy on my job than with my family,” says Bayuk.

Bayuk has a very booming and loud personality. He takes strong passion and pride in his teaching.

Bayuk mentioned he struggled with leaving behind all of the good things that came out of coaching.

“What I have found most difficult to leave behind is the relationship I had with my players. I was lucky to have coached some great young men, and I’ll never forget the memories we made while I coached here at Struthers.” says Bayuk.

Bayuk always brings the energy, in class, and previously on the field.

Bayuk has many memories from football that will forever stay with him, whether he’s a coach or not.

“One thing that will always stick with me is how our coaching staff witnessed an entire new culture shift in our locker room. When we first introduced “Trust the climb” it wasn’t meant to just be a catchy slogan for a t-shirt —but a real mindset we tried to build our team on: It meant something deeper. It means that growth is hard. That adversity is part of the process. That we weren’t promised an easy path, only that we’d take it together,” says Bayuk.
