SMILEY SETS HER JUNIOR YEAR UP FOR SUCCESS

Giavanna Smiley is a junior at Struthers High School. She is involved in several CCP classes. Smiley is encouraged to take CCP courses in hopes to get college credit.

Smiley enrolled herself into CCP for the first time this year. She was intrigued by CCP classes because of the amount of college credit she was able to earn while still being in High School. The student is satisfied with her decisions and is planning to take more CCP courses in the future.

The student embraces her decision to take CCP classes.

“It gives you hours for college and prepares you,” says Smiley.

The Junior benefits most from the college preparation that CCP classes offer her. Aside from AP classes, the junior sees CCP classes being more effective for preparing you for college. While AP classes require you to pass an exam in order to receive college credit, CCP courses do not require an end of course exam.

Smiley expresses the effectiveness of CCP, rather than AP courses.

“CCP will benefit me more than AP because I don’t have to take an exam at the end of the year,” says Smiley.

The student has benefited from the academic growth CCP has given her. She is currently enrolled in taking CCP American history, CCP world history, English 1550 and CCP psychology. Taking CCP classes was not a difficult decision for Smiley because she knows it will prepare her for her future. The student hopes to maintain good grades and maintain her GPA.

Smiley is content with her start of Junior year.

¨My goals for junior year are to get good grades and to keep my GPA,¨ says Smiley.

The junior suggests that others take CCP courses to better prepare for the future. The discussions within a CCP class will be more detailed and advanced. Along with a heavier workload that requires more studying and preparation.

The student suggests others take CCP classes.

“The lectures in class will be a preview of college and help me to learn how to study on your own,” says Smiley.
