“THE PAPER GIRL OF PARIS” CREATES MYSTERIOUS ATMOSPHERE

Sixteen-year-old Alice Prewitt goes on a mission to Paris to reveal the secrets of the past.

In the book “The Paper Girl of Paris,” when the Nazis invaded France, Alice’s great-aunt Adalyn was determined to do something about it. She would do whatever it takes to fight back, even if it means risking her safety or reputation. This leads to Adalyn fleeing the apartment, which Alice inherits. It is her job to search the apartment to find out the unknown, when she comes across a diary. When she reads the diary, she finds out the shocking truths from the past and secrets her family is still refusing to talk about. Even though Alice and Adalyn are separated by multiple generations, their stories become united when more and more information is revealed.

The setting in the book is Paris, France, from the 1940s during World War II and the present day. This setting provides the reader with a mysterious and spooky atmosphere because it is hard to imagine what will happen next. Alice’s grandmother and great-aunt were forced out of the house, but no one knows what really happened. The past tense focuses on Adalyn’s life during World War II and how her involvement affected everyone and everything around her. Then, in present-day Paris, it follows Alice and her parents around as they search the apartment to unravel all of the secrets from the past. The setting also affects the characters, as they go around looking for the truth, as they have not been told anything about the situation they are going to walk into. Overall, the setting goes hand in hand with the storyline to create suspense for the characters and the reader.

The characters in “The Paper Girl of Paris” make the book more interesting and intriguing. Some of the main characters include Alice, Adalyn, Chloe, Paul and Alice’s parents. All of the characters work together to solve the mystery. However, there are a couple of relationships throughout the book that shape the story to become even more intriguing. One main relationship is between Alice and her family. Both her mother and father are having a hard time with the situation because they are trying to navigate their past, while also dealing with their own struggles. Another relationship is between Alice and Paul. Paul is an art student who helps Alice navigate her way through Adalyn’s diary. As time goes on, a romance spark begins to form between them, creating a new challenge for Alice. In conclusion, all of the characters do their jobs to make sure no information gets left behind.

All in all, the book “The Paper Girl of Paris” gets a 4 out of 5 stars because all of the aspects in the book were good. This book would also be recommended to anyone who likes mysteries.
