Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) dreams of becoming a professional hockey player but soon discovers that he has a talent for golf.
When Happy’s grandma (France Bay) got evicted from her house for not paying back her taxes, he finds out that he is very good at golf instead of hockey and decides to go pro to make some money for her. In order to get pro level in golf, he meets a former pro golf star, Chubbs Peterson (Carl Weathers), who lost his hand in an alligator attack. Although Happy has impressive long drives, his putting is terrible. Knowing he must improve his short game to defeat Shooter (Christopher McDonald), Happy goes to Chubbs to practice miniature golf to hopefully win the Tour Championship. Once the championship starts, Shooter takes the lead which leaves Happy encouraged to tie with him once he remembers what he has to do for his grandma to get the house back. On the 18th and final hole, Happy sinks his putt in for the win after the great effort he had to commit. The movie ends with Happy celebrating his win with Virgina (Julie Bowen), Grandma, and Otto (Allen Covert).
