Ms. Knight is the Athletic Director of Struthers High School. She has been at Struthers for 32 years and the director for 12. This is her final year before retirement. She has made a big positive impact on students and athletes over the years.
Knight was not only an athletic director; she was also a full time teacher here at Struthers for 20 years. Being in the classroom has helped her build stronger, more meaningful connections with both students and families.
Her role as a teacher has given her this advantage.
“The experience of interaction with student athletes as well as the communication with parents has been a great asset. Afterall, athletics is just an extension of the classroom,” says Knight.
In her role as the athletic director, she gets to see student athletes grow into their best selves. This is a very rewarding part of the job.
The athletic director enjoys seeing students expand their horizons.
“Seeing the growth in the kids is the most rewarding…whether it is in learning and knowledge, skill development or just maturity,” says Knight.
Mr. Nerone is set to take over for Knight as the new athletic director for the 2025 -2026 school year. He worked as the assistant athletic director for several years and is following in her footsteps.
Knight will miss her time here at Struthers.
“It was not an easy decision, but I believe it is time for someone new and younger to tackle the job,” she says.
