The social studies teacher of 32 years has experience and knowledge like no other that he wants to pass down before retiring.
After years of teaching, Gaia found his passion in teaching and figured out what he looks forward to doing.
The students that he was able to teach and give a message to made his day and ended up being the reason he loved working.
“All of the good students that I got to work with and seeing them grow,” said Gaia.
Unlike Gaia, most teachers lose the love for the subject they taught and when they retire they completely forget about it.
Even after retiring he still has a passion for social studies and wants to further indulge himself in the subject.
“I plan on travelling. I would really like to go to Europe and tour the battlefields of the Romans through World War II before the continent is changed. It doesn’t look like I will be doing that. My next choice would be to travel the US and our Revolution and Civil War battlefields,” said Gaia.
After years, Gaia figured out that nothing that happens at work should affect his life outside of school.
The social studies teacher had students that did their work and were interested, but there were many students who did nothing.
“I wish I would have realized that this is a job, and I should not take it personally when students don’t put any effort into their studies. Also, I would have put my family first before work,” said Gaia.
Even after his retirement Gaia wants his students to do their best and go as far as they can in life.
