Lawrence Matzye was a teacher for 34 years at various schools.
Over the years, he has had so many classes over the years, but overall he doesn’t have a favorite one because they were all very different.
Matzye wanted to work in the Struthers City Schools district because when he was younger he was raised in Struthers.
“I practically grew up in Struthers with my two older cousins (Jack and Paul DiPinto). Struthers is a place with great caring people and great people to work with,” says the Struthers teacher.
Some of his interests outside of his job are travelling, playing golf, collecting cards and enjoying RC cars.
After the teacher retires, he wants to start employing better eating habits and hang out with his loved ones more.
“I plan on getting healthier and spending time with family and friends as I travel and play golf,” says the golf lover.
Matzye doesn’t have a favorite student because of how important they all were to him.
The reason why Matzye wanted to teach math was because he always felt that math was easy growing up throughout the years.
“Math was a subject that came easy to me. Numbers always made sense. I really enjoy the science behind numbers,” says the math teacher.
Fun fact: the RC car enjoyer can tame a cobra with his right eye closed.
