“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” Is the first movie in the “Harry Potter” movie series, based on the books written by J.K. Rolling. This movie is around 2 hours and 32 minutes long and came out on November 16, 2001.
This movie takes place in Britain, focusing on a kid named Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe). He lives with his Aunt Petunia (Fiona Shaw), Uncle Vernon (Richard Griffiths), and his cousin Dudley (Harry Melling) because his parents supposedly died in a car crash. His family treats him very unfairly, they make him sleep under the stairs in a small closet, and purposely spoil Dudley infront of him without getting anything for Harry. He later finds out that his parents actually were wizards and were killed by a powerful wizard named Voldermort (Richard Bremmer). Voldermort also tried to kill Harry, but Harry’s mother put a spell on him to protect him, so when Voldermort tried to kill him, it backfired on him and he died. Hogwarts, a school for wizards and witches, are sending letters to Harry hoping he would attend. Vernon and Petunia take him and his family away to a deserted island in the middle of the ocean hoping to get away from the letters, but Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) comes and takes Harry to Hogwarts himself. Harry makes two close friends, Hermonie (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint). The three of them take on Hogwarts mysteries and even take down Voldermort when he comes back to life.
A major part of this movie is the magic; this is because they make magic look so real. They created different spells shown in the movie and the students take classes to learn them. They use this magic in fights which is very entertaining to watch. Overall, the magic is very important because it makes this movie have a very magical and unique vibe.
Another major part of this movie is Harry’s battle with Voldermort. This is near the end of the movie and is the first scene with Voldermort and Harry. This is very important because Voldermort is the main antagonist and is Harry’s enemy. Harry ends up winning the battle, but it implies that Voldermort’s story isn’t over just yet.
Taking all of this into account, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” is highly recommended to everyone, especially people who enjoy family/fantasy movies. This is because it has a good storyline and is available for any age to watch.
