Katie Morris is a senior on the girls Struthers varsity softball team.
Morris has been playing softball since she was 6 years old, totaling in 11 years.
The athlete looks up to her father the most when it comes to softball.
“My biggest inspiration is my dad. He played baseball in high school and college so he taught me everything that I needed to know about softball,” says Morris.
Though the senior had played the sport for so long, she does not plan on continuing after high school.
The athlete’s favorite memory from the past season was bonding with her teammates on their spring break trip.
“The most memorable moment during softball this year was probably waiting for a roller coaster when we were in Tennessee. We were all singing and having fun so everyone was staring at us, but we didn’t care,” says Morris.
Morris prefers playing volleyball rather than playing softball due to the belief she is more talented in one than the other. She enjoys the faster pace and movements in volleyball over the slower and more skill based parts of softball.
The senior appreciates being noticed for all of her hard work she puts into the sport of softball.
“It felt like a big accomplishment to get athlete of the week. Being recognized for my work as a student athlete is very important because I put a lot of effort and time into keeping my grades up while also constantly practicing or playing games,” says Morris.
