Meghan Dubos has been at Struthers High School for 9 Years and at Struthers Middle School for 4 years prior.
Dubos loved several subjects in school, but overall she just enjoyed school.
In her younger years, she always had a dream to help kids learn new things, but she also likes being a counselor to help guide children to their full potential.
“I knew that I always wanted to help kids. As a teacher, I was able to teach students ELA skills, but becoming a school counselor allowed me to guide and teach students in so many different ways. Helping students find their passion, choose a career path, alleviate stress and prepare them for life out of high school is beyond rewarding,” says the Guidance Counselor.
In the next 10 years, Dubos believes that she will have the same job at Struthers.
She likes motivating the children at school by having conversations with them.
“Motivating teenagers is definitely a challenge! I have a lot of one-on-one conversations with the students to explain the importance of coming to school. Maybe my morning greetings are helping recently. I’m still trying to decide if the pom poms are worth bringing out every day,” says the cheer coach.
She has had many students over the years that have changed her life in many ways, so because of this she cannot choose a favorite.
Dubos enjoys spending time with her family in her free time, and she also coaches many different sports.
“I love spending time with my family and attending my kids’ events. I coach too many things, including my youngest daughter’s rec and travel softball team. My husband and I have a large role at the Struthers Baseball League and enjoy restoring the fields and instilling the love for the game in young athletes,” says the former English teacher.
Dubos has been a counselor for 5 years.
