The Texas Longhorns have a lot to deal with after the loss to Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl. With this class, it could help tremendously.
After taking the loss from the Buckeyes in this past season, the Longhorns need to bounce back. This class could be the future for this team, and they had some big playmakers that could lead them. 6 ‘3’’ 203 pound safety from Galveston, Texas, Jonah Williams, a true playmaker from the lone state playing for his dream school. He is a dawg and will continue to be for the Longhorns.
247 Sports Analyst, Gabe Brooks, knows that Jonah Williams is legit.
“Dynamic multi-sport standout who affects football games in all three phases. Legit 6-foot-3 lean, athletic frame that makes for a huge safety or a wiry strong linebacker. Could play either, or receiver in college, but better not get hung up on a specific position projection,” said Brooks.
They have some major gaps to fill on both sides of the ball, and the Longhorn fans could see some freshmen get some playing time. Especially this 5-star wide receiver 6 ‘2’’ 175 from Sachse, Texas, Kaliq Lockett, he hauled in a solid 29 touchdowns in his high school career whilst averaging 18.0 yards after catch. He has some shadows of Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs; he could be the next great receiver to come out of Texas.
Brooks thinks that Lockett could play anywhere on the outside.
“Lean, angular, athletic receiver who can play outside or from the slot. Narrow build but sneaky tall, verified just shy of 6-foot-2, with enormous hands, long arms, and a large wingspan that enhance a sizable catch radius. Strong-handed with good ball skills. Regularly wins contested throws, whether up and over or catch-point fighting,” said the analyst.
The Longhorns allowed around 15 points to their opponents each game, which isn’t bad, but compared to some teams that only allow 10 points, this number needs to decrease heavily. This new Defensive Tackle, standing a whopping 6’ 5’’ 263 pounds, Justus Terry, coming from Manchester, Texas. He’s been compared to Super Bowl-winning defensive lineman, Jalen Carter, he has a nose for getting to the quarterback after getting 19 sacks in his high school career.
247 National Recruiting Analyst, Cooper Petagna, knows that Terry is a one of a kind player.
“Good verified size with excellent length, a broad torso, a stout base, and room to add more positive mass. Flashes excellent athleticism as a 5-technique in an even front, while also playing 1- and 3-technique spots among two-way snaps. Quick-twitch explosive with excellent first-step quickness off the line of scrimmage. Can go speed to power. Value the ability as an interior pass rusher,” said Petagna.
This Texas Longhorns team is hungry to catch some wins this next season to compete with the best of the best. This squad will be one to watch this upcoming season.
