Nickelodeon presents one of the most significant childhood classics.
The 1-season American sitcom with 36 episodes called “Sam & Cat” came out in 2013. The main actors include Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy), Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande), Dice (Cameron Ocasio), Goomer (Zoran Korach) and Nona (Maree Cheatham). The plot consists of Sam Puckett from “iCarly” and Cat Valentine from “Victorious” as they become roommates and start a babysitting business to make more money; however, they face various challenges along the way. They meet when Sam moves to West Hollywood after Carly moves away to Italy, where she rescues Cat from a dumpster. The show is considered to be a spin-off of the two shows “iCarly” and “Victorious” as it stars the main characters from each. They work together to conquer their challenges head-on, despite their differences.
A big aspect of “Sam & Cat” is the relationships between the actors. All of the actors have a relationship of friendship or enemies. This creates a suspenseful environment because all of the actors have very different qualities and personalities. For example, when Sam originally finds Cat, she sees her as a way to stay out of trouble, but later in the show, they develop a strong bond. Cat and her grandma Nona have a very strong relationship, as Nona offers her guidance and support. However, Sam and Nona have a very different relationship because Sam often got annoyed when Nona told her stories, but when she moved out, Sam realized how much Nona did for her and that she could not live without her. Lastly, Dice is a close friend of Cat, and he is a business partner of Sam’s when they start their babysitting business. Overall, the relationships shown in “Sam & Cat” show the differences between certain people, but that they can still be friends beyond their differences.
Another important part of “Sam & Cat” is the setting because it shows the situations the actors are in and their different personalities. When Sam first moved into the apartment with Cat, her room was all pink, and Sam did not like that, so they redecorated the room. Half of the room was Cats, which had bright colors, and Sam’s half had darker colors. Another major setting in the show was the robotic restaurant, which contributes to the show’s comedy. The settings help to show the actors’ lives and how they interact with each other and their surroundings. Moreover, the settings are a big part in telling their story, and it makes it more visually appealing and engaging for the audience watching.
All in all, “Sam & Cat” would be rated a 5/5 because it is a classic show, and it is very entertaining. It would also be recommended for people who enjoy Nickelodeon comedy shows.
