Nickelodeon presents yet another comedy show.
“Victorious” came out in 2010. The show starts off with a girl named Tori (Victoria Justice) trying to get into her sister’s school which is Hollywood Arts. Tori struggles to have guidance throughout the show as she’s finally going to her dream school. Luckily she meets a group of friends Car (Ariana Grande), Jade (Elizabeth Gillies), Beck (Avan Jogia), Robbie (Matt Bennett) and Andre (Leon Thomas III). Andre starts to show her new experiences and how to enjoy her years at this school since everyone is able to express themselves freely. The reactions of others surrounding the group really sets off the show, making the show more entertaining with the strange interactions that they have with other characters makes the show into something humorous. The six friends spend their time at school and come up with different songs to sing for school; they also go on these wild adventures.
Something that can be gathered from watching this show is the importance of friendship and creativity–and being yourself most importantly. As the show starts off, Tori feels like she doesn’t belong, this is because before her and Jade became friends Jade was actually very mean to Tori, causing her to start doubting herself. Her other friends around her made her realize that others’ opinions shouldn’t stop her from following her dreams, which was really the main part of the show. Let your creativity take over and find a way to express yourself more freely without being judged. Andre made sure he included Tori when hanging out with the groups of friends and later on into the series Jade started to gain more of a soft spot for Tori, causing them to grow their friendship. This is for all the characters really as Tori’s bubbly personality helped her regain a kind relationship with others around her.
Another good aspect from this show is the comedic element. The show is filled with hilarious situations and the over the top reactions from other characters. For example, Tori, Beck, Jade, Andre, Cat, Trina and Robbie went to the beach as they took Beck’s dad’s trailer; they soon got stuck in the trailer because a huge trailer parked next to them, and they couldn’t get out. Since Cat was using the bathroom, they couldn’t message her or call for help since they had no data. There was a heat wave in LA that day and the friends’ dramatic reactions and witty comments to each other made the episode more amusing and drew the attention of the audience in. The group of friends always finds a way to find themselves in the most crazy situations. They have multiple awkward situations with other characters. The way their crazy drama teacher Sikowitz random moments adds onto the comedic experience.
All of it, “Victorious” is recommended for those who enjoy comedy shows. It’s mainly for pre-teens and kids in general as it is rated TV-G.
