Ella Bailey is a junior softball player who has been playing for around eight years. She starts out at right field, but she is also a backup pitcher.
Bailey is motivated to continue playing softball because of her Tennessee trip this year and the team she gets to go with. She can’t imagine playing with a better set of girls than she currently does.
So far during her career in softball, her biggest achievement has been her team when she was little going to state.
“When I was younger and played for my old team, we made it all the way to state. It was a very fun experience, and it made my confidence grow,” says Bailey
The first game of the year was a little rough for them; the team was rusty and struggled with their hitting. Bailey believes the team can improve their plays by continuing to practice their fundamentals, especially for important games.
Bailey is a little sad about her softball journey coming to a close next year, so it’s difficult to hear.
“It makes me very upset because it has been a part of my life for years, so it’s hard to think about it coming to an end,” says Bailey.
Winning a game feels very good for Bailey, seeing her hard work pay off brings up her confidence during a game. Losing doesn’t feel very good for anyone, but Bailey tries not to let it get to her and she attempts to keep her spirits up.
Even though Bailey is sad about her softball career ending, she’s very ready for her senior year because she hopes she can be a motivation for younger players.
“I’m excited for my senior year because I like being an upperclassman, and I hope I can be a role model for others,” says Bailey.
Her plan after high school is not fully decided, but currently she is thinking about attending Auburn University for an education degree. When she was younger, she wanted to play softball in college, but now that she’s gotten older she doesn’t believe she will continue after her senior year.
