The draft is coming close, and the Browns still have many decisions to make.
In 2022, the Browns made the trade to the Texans for QB Deshaun Watson. The trade was one of the biggest trades in NFL history. The Browns traded six draft picks, including three first-round selections for Watson, hoping to finally have a playoff push.
His three seasons with the team did not go as expected, playing only 19 games in his three years.
“The most recent injury, which is expected to wipe out his entire 2025 campaign, finally led Browns owner Jimmy Haslam to admit the club “took a big swing and miss” with Watson,” says Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.
The Browns struggled every season with Watson at QB, as he couldn’t stay healthy. With only 19 games played, the team’s trade started to feel like a bust. The teams’ struggles continued as they went through several QB’s within the three seasons.
Although the Browns are expected to draft and have been signing quarterbacks, Watson is still on the team.
“Everyone is doubting me. Everyone doesn’t believe in me,” Watson said in the video. “Everyone doesn’t think I can get back to where I was. But I know, and I believe the work that I put in, that I believe in myself… I know, I’m gonna be way better than before,”says Watson.
Soon, the Browns look to move forward for Watson as they are projected to draft one of the top quarterbacks in the class, Sheduer Sanders or Cam Ward.
The team hopes to draft the right quarterback to finally end the drought.
“The Cleveland Browns have a golden opportunity to transform their franchise in this year’s NFL Draft, even if the organization may pass on selecting a franchise quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick,” says CBS sports writer Jeff Kerr.
