Struthers High School held its annual Students vs. Faculty game on Thursday, March 13.
This was the second year for the student/faculty game, and the students defeated the faculty 45-50.
Before the game, Brian Garcar, a teacher and coach at Struthers High School, was confident that the faculty was going to win.
The math teacher personally felt the faculty did decent.
“The faculty missed a lot of layups and open shots that we normally make. Other than that, the faculty played well,” says the coach.
The game was pretty close in score, going shot after shot to get points.
The teacher enjoys how the students and teachers interact with each other during the game.
The math club advisor says, “The faculty and students who play in the game have a lot of fun. The faculty try to make the game entertaining for everyone that comes to the game.”
The game serves as a senior class fundraiser; there are games for the spectators to play, and it’s a tradition that the senior class is hoping to keep going.
The CCP math teacher describes the rivalry between the students and faculty.
“We have only had the student/faculty game for two years. The faculty won the first year and the students won this year,” says Garcar.
The game is usually played in March each year like “March Madness.”
