Mr. Day has been a principal for 16 years at multiple schools.
The principal has many interests outside of school such as watching sports and playing golf.
The reason why Mr. Day wanted to become a principal was because when he graduated high school he was a coach.
“I was a coach upon graduating from high school which is why I chose education as my career. Once I was a teacher and coach there were individuals that believed I possessed leadership qualities and would make a good principal. I got my masters in administration and the rest is history,” says the Lead Principal.
In 10 years, Day believes that he is going to be retired.
Day believes that being a principal comes with many frustrations such as not being able to see the students reach their full potential.
“I feel the most frustrating part is seeing individuals not live up to the potential they have in themselves. I see this with both students and adults that are capable of better. Helping them figure out their potential is the greatest part of being a principal,” says the golf lover.
The former Poland High School student attended Youngstown State University after high school.
One of the ways that Mr. Day motivates students to come to school is that he wants the students to feel like school isn’t a waste of time.
“The way to motivate students is for them to feel value in what is happening here. Most students are made to come to school because it’s the law. The truth is when they feel it’s beneficial to themselves it is more likely they will attend. It also means that teachers and administrators have to work hard to provide value in education and what is happening in the class,” says the Math fan.
Day had several favorite subjects in school such as Math and Social Studies.
