Kylie Schiedel is a junior tennis player at Struthers High School who plays third singles. She has played since her freshman year and plans on playing all four years of high school.
Schiedel is motivated to continue playing because of her pure love for the sport. Before actually joining the team, she did the tennis clinics and fell in love with the sport the very first day she played. It seemed like an amazing sport to her, and it just clicked with her instantly.
Schiedel is sad about her only having a year left in the sport because it was always something she found exciting.
“Having only one year left makes me very upset because tennis is my favorite sport to play, and I fell in love with that sport right away,” says Schidel.
Winning a match is really amazing to her, especially if it was really good or a super close game. On the other hand, losing a game is really terrible to her because she always thinks about her mistakes and how she could have done much better. During games, she gets excited and motivated if she’s winning, but she gets down and discouraged when she’s losing.
Her biggest achievement this season was how successful she was. She did amazing throughout the season and had minimal losses.
“My biggest accomplishment in tennis my junior year is that I only lost one of my matches out of 18 matches. The only team I lost to was McDonald. Another accomplishment I made this year was going really far in the sectionals tournament. During the sectionals, I won 3 matches in a row before I lost to Perry,” says Schiedel.
The best part of tennis to her is the relationships she gets to build with all the girls and all the fun memories she makes with the entire team and even the coaches. She honestly cannot think of a bad part of tennis; it’s just such a magical and amazing sport to her.
Schiedel is ready for her final season because she gets to step up and be a motivation for the younger girls and play the sport she fell in love with.
“I am very excited for my senior year for tennis because I get to be a leader for the whole team and have one more great season playing for the sport I love,” says Schiedel.
Her plan after high school is to attend Youngstown State University for marketing and business. She would love to continue tennis after high school, but she’s not sure it’s possible because she wants to focus on her studies.
