Mr. Pape has been a teacher at Struthers High School for 6 years.
One of the most frustrating things about teaching is having to wake up super early and arrive at the school on time.
Pape wanted to become a teacher because of his passion for history and because he wanted to educate people about the history he learned.
“I was always very passionate about history and loved learning about it. I wanted a job where I could talk to people about history,” says the History teacher.
In 10 years, Pape sees himself still educating students and spending even more time with his nieces and nephews.
The high school that he attended was Struthers High School, and he also went to YSU after high school.
“I graduated from Struthers High School in 2009. After graduation, I went to YSU and got my bachelor’s in history in 2014 and my master’s in history in 2017. I worked in sales for a few years but decided to complete a program to get my teaching license in 2019,” says the Struthers High School graduate.
Pape’s favorite hobby is to read, and he even goes to the movie theaters to go and see specific movies.
The former student of Struthers High School has many favorite SHS teachers.
“It’s really hard to pick just one. Mr. Bruno was one of my favorites for sure. But I also had Mr. Gaia and even Mr. Dailey his first year teaching. Mr. Matzye was one of the only math teachers that made me not hate math. I also had Ms. Parella for public speaking. All of them were great teachers,” says the Struthers teacher.
One of his students would describe him as a very passionate teacher that sometimes cracks a joke to make his students laugh to not be as stressed out about the work.
