Addison Liptak is a junior cheerleader who has been cheering for the last five years. She has been a backspot for two years, but she does have experience as a flyer. She cheers during both football season and basketball season.
Liptak feels that when the football team wins it’s a phenomenal and super satisfying feeling. She loves when the players, cheerleaders and the student section all get together for the alma mater and its pure happiness. When the team loses a game, it’s very disappointing. She hates seeing the players’ faces, but she keeps hope in knowing they have the next week to practice and redeem themselves.
She loves cheering for both basketball and football, but football is much more memorable for her.
“I cheer during both football and basketball season, but I prefer football games much more. There is just something about Friday night football games that are so amazing. Basketball games just don’t compare,” says Liptak.
Friday night lights are a feeling like no other to the cheerleader. She has the ability to be around all of her friends, the entire town comes to watch, and she hears the bands’ amazing music. There’s nothing in her mind that compares to a Friday night football game and she looks forward to them every fall.
The cheerleader is ready for her senior season as long as everything goes according to plan. She has a specific idea for how being a senior cheerleader will go.
“I am very excited for my senior season, as long as tryouts go well and I secure my spot on the team. I have many high hopes for next season because I want to make it the best year yet by attending many competitions, creating new routines, stunts and more,” says Liptak.
Liptak’s biggest motivation for the sport is knowing her senior year is fast approaching. Senior year coming means she has to prepare for tryouts. Being a senior on the cheerleading squad comes with a lot of responsibilities, and she wants to be able to experience that.
The thing she’s most proud of in her cheerleading career is making teams she wasn’t sure she would; they made her feel extremely positive about herself and she realized her hard work was panning out.
“My biggest accomplishment in my cheerleading career was either making varsity or the UCA All American squad both my sophomore and junior year. These moments made me feel extremely proud and confident in myself and helped me realize that my efforts had paid off,” says Liptak.
After high school, she plans on attending YSU and working towards becoming a dermatologist or working in marketing. She has mixed feelings on whether or not she’s gonna continue cheering after her senior year, but part of her really wants to.
