Climate change is a race we’re losing. Every year, more irreparable damage is done to our climate and nothing is done to stop it. Thousands of years of damage has been done to our ecosystems and to our planet in the last twenty. Years and years of irreparable damage will continue if no action is taken.
If a stance isn’t taken against climate change sooner than later–by everyone–it will only lead to harm.
Our climate’s shifting in an overwhelming and unbearable manner. According to the Climate Copernicus, “2024 was the first year with global temperature more than 1.5°C above the pre-industrial level” The actions we as a people take are only making it worse. There’s plenty of little things that anyone could do to better climate change, even on a smaller scale. This includes anything from reducing your energy use, by shutting off lights and unnecessary appliances at night, to conserving water. It’s a hard argument to push as many people are just stubborn in their ways. Those who are stubborn in their ways may never change, but if even one person changes, that makes a world of difference. In this race to save the climate, anything means everything to our climate, and preventing its inevitable decay.
While it’s hard to change everything all at once, little steps being taken make a difference. By no means is what’s being suggested will alter your life, as some may seem to think. It’s a lot more of a little difference that adds up to a lot in the long run. Eventually, if everyone gives a little, that’ll mean everything to bettering the climate and hence the world. Many are much less willing to partake, but that doesn’t matter much, as long as a few do, that makes a world of difference to the climate.
Thousands of years of damage has been done to our climate in the last twenty. Years and years of irreparable damage will continue if no action is taken, a change needs to be made. Generally, the best solution is to just try. Trying in the long run means quite a bit, and that’s what makes the difference. In the end, it comes to whether or not everyone will value themselves over the world or the opposite. It’s a hard argument to make, and while not everyone will make an effort, it’s hard not to hope that it’ll at least convince whoever reads this to at least try. All it takes is just a small amount of effort many aren’t willing to give, be the difference.
Our climate is rapidly decaying at substantial levels, and unignorable rates. If no change is made, it’s essentially impossible to reverse its current state. A decaying climate is inevitable, but it’s imperative that an attempt be made to combat it. Nevertheless, it’s impossible to change everyone’s attitude, the ignorance of the many is the downfall of the few. In this race, a little means a lot, one foot forward is another step towards going beyond climate change and making a difference in the world.
